Transition Year bridges the gap between Junior and Senior Cycles. The aim of Transition Year is to develop a sense of personal responsibility and provide a very good foundation for Leaving Certificate.



Students Study the normal range of Academic Subjects:

  • P.E.
  • Home Economics
  • History
  • Geography
  • Business Studies
  • Computers
  • Irish
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Religion
  • Economics
  • Art
  • Music
  • Physics
  • Horticulture
  • Choir

The following  areas are also offered on a modular basis:

  • First Aid
  • Self Defence
  • Drama
  • Law
  • Media Studies

In addition the students undertake:

  • Project work
  • Have work experience for 3 weeks
  • Visit a range of places of economic, social, historical, religious, political and scientific interest
  • Participate in outdoor pursuits
  • Engage in social activities in the local community
  • Have lectures from visiting guest-speakers on a wide range of topics
